Sagittarius, from the Latin word which for archer, governs the period from about November 22 and December 21. It is a fire sign, and it is ruled by Jupiter.

In Greek mythology, Sagittarius was identified as the centaur Chiron, the wisest of all centaurs. Chiron was a great healer, astrologer, and respected oracle, and was said to be the first among centaurs. He was highly revered as a teacher and tutor; among his pupils were many including Asclepius, Aristaeus, Achilles, and Jason.
